The future; something that no one can predict and yet Everyone does. How is that and more importantly Why? Maybe every living organism has some innate trigger to protect themselves from pending danger. We have noticed that even the pesky fly seems to anticipate and successfully avoid the swat. So maybe as organisms become more complex their instinct to anticipate and in our case predict the future is simply an organic component of being alive.

What Are Stock Futures?

Futures are derivative financial contracts that obligate parties to buy or sell an asset at a predetermined future date and price. The buyer must purchase or the seller must sell the underlying asset at the set price, regardless of the current market price at the expiration date.

People are not satisfied to buy and sell in the present they go to great lengths to make a wager on what they predict the value will be in the future. It seems crazy but so intrinsic to our nature that we have built it into our economic system. If we think it’s going to rain, let alone snow, we stock up at the grocery store because we think that the future is a greater rIsk. We recently ran out of toilet paper because we were scared shirtless that w wouldn’t be able to get any during the COVID pandemic. Ironically thousands of people refused to get vaccinated or even wear a mask to avoid getting sick so millions of people did and a million people died. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries

Despite this reality, millions of people remain in denial. Not just, well I don’t know, I’m not sure… adamant, angry and defiant denial. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S104620232100075X
