Distance: 64 miles
This route circumnavigates the county and offers great
views of the surrounding mountains. Quiet country lanes
link the towns of Fletcher, Edneyville, Dana, Flat Rock,
Etowah and Mills River. Tucked in among the mountains
and valleys, these towns are separated by rocky, forested
areas, lush fields and stands of rhododendron. Apple
orchards of different varieties abound in the eastern part
of the county, the largest apple-growing region in North
Carolina.
