Stocks we own that continue to do well

Do I have any regrets???? Not really. I had built up to 1000 shares of Microsoft and Apple. 1000 shares of each! Which is a minor miracle. If I had just kept that investment I’d probably be better now than I am but I sold some to diversify and invest in QQQ and First Solar which have both done well but Rivian, Tan and Fan that haven’t done well yet but I believe in alternatives to fossil fuels so I still consider them good investments. I have now also put some money into nuclear energy, which is the fuel of the future…. And always will be. I also kept 260k in cash which is earning high 4% interest. We now have 4 times as much cash as we originally put into the market. Sometimes I think about cashing out completely but I will probably move towards 50/50. We own our home. We rent/lease our car(s). We live a comfortable economically conservative lifestyle. I want Tess to be Ok if I die first. I know Lauren and Sam will take care of her. In the mean time

I go out for dinner. I give good tips to working people because These are the people I identify with and everything we don’t spend will go back to Lauren and the grandkids.

AI will be the theme dominating a slew of blockbuster tech earnings from Microsoft (MSFT), Alphabet (GOOGL) and Nvidia's chipmaking rival Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), all of which report after the closing bell today. The outlook from these companies, as well as others from big tech this week, will show whether the rally in the stock market that they have driven is sustainable. Meantime, UPS stock is lower this morning after a revenue miss, while GM is surging on an earnings beat. Here’s what investors need to know today.

1. Microsoft Set for Revenue Surge on AI Bet

Microsoft (MSFT) is expected to report is biggest revenue increase in nearly two years and an uptick in profit, boosted by a surge in its Intelligent Cloud segment, which includes many of its AI offerings. Microsoft has made a major bet on artificial intelligence (AI), investing billions of dollars with ChatGPT-creator OpenAI. Revenue for the company's Intelligent Cloud business is expected to have reached an all-time high of $25.3 billion in the latest quarter. MSFT was up 0.8% in pre-market trading.

2. Alphabet's Google Cloud Foray in Focus

Google parent company Alphabet Inc. (GOOGL) is reporting fourth-quarter results, with investors’ sights set on Google Cloud revenue growth after a disappointing third quarter and any details on the company's AI initiatives. Alphabet's revenue is expected to be $85.24 billion, up from $76.05 billion in the fourth quarter of 2022.  Google bolstered its stance in the AI space in the final quarter of 2023, launching its own AI model, Gemini. Alphabet stock was up 0.2% before the bell.

I feel good about GM because I Love Our Bolt and I want them to be rewarded for investing in this technology.

4. GM Shares Rise on Earnings Beat, Strong Outlook

General Motors Co. (GM) shares rose nearly 8% in pre-market trading after announcing better-than-expected earnings and a rosy outlook for 2024. The automaker reported Q4 revenue of $42.98 billion and adjusted earnings per share of $1.24, both of which were down from a year ago but well above analysts' expectations. The company projects 2024 full-year EPS in a range of $8.50 to $9.50 a share, which compares with the $7.68 full year EPS in 2023.34
