Tess Elaine Tintle (1943 - 2024) 

Tess Elaine Carter Tintle, a dedicated nurse and cherished family member, passed away peacefully on Thursday April 18th at her home surrounded by loved ones.

Born on July 5, 1943, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Tess was the daughter of William Ralph Carter (Papa) and Ora Lee Carter (Lee Lee). She loved and lost her beloved son Eric. She is survived by her brother, Barry Carter, his wife Shirley and their son, Michael, wife Elizabeth and his two sons.

Tess was born and raised in the Methodist church tradition, living in several communities throughout South Carolina.Tess met Peter Ellis Tintle while both were working at Cedar Springs School. They were married by her father, Reverend Carter, on May 5, 1978. And Together, they welcomed their daughter, Christina Lauren, into the world. Lauren followed Tess’s path in a nursing career, married Sam Fuller, and they have two sons, Nolan Ellis and Wesley Aaron Fuller.

Her formal education included a Nursing Diploma at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at USC Spartanburg and specialty training at Emory University in Atlanta. Her storied career of 40 years included serving children with special needs, hospital nursing, faculty for continuing education, nursing homes and Hospice. She excelled in her field as an ostomy wound care specialist and concluded her remarkable career working alongside her cherished   colleagues at Restorative Care at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center and retired to Hendersonville in 2008.

Just days ago, Tess learned that she had developed cancer. Choosing in-home hospice care allowed Tess to pass peacefully in her familiar surroundings, cared for by her daughter Lauren, comforted by her beloved Shih Tzu, Zeke, and surrounded by the love of her family.


A memorial service will be performed by Rev Richard Weidler
