Because I'm Not an Iron Man

I decided to go for broke and prepare for an upcoming event The Tour d Apple in Hendersonville. Friends and mentors, Brian and Mary sent me the video below which we think is one of the funniest things we've ever seen. We as in Tess and I because Tess knows what a nut case I am and appears to accept it and let's me do my thing with the only caveat loose your head but don't break your neck.
Because I am an Iron Man

We are coming down to crunch time with the Tour only 10 days away and so far I think that I am on track. I have moved my hover weight down from 170 to 155. My hover weight is the weight where I "hover" up or down by 2 or 3 pounds, which I seem to be able to shift with one meal or one ride and a shower. Mostly I've stayed clear of carbs. We don't buy into too many fad diets or theories but we had an experience with Dolce where he was obsessively licking his paws and hey were actually bleeding. Tess traced it to a snack she was giving him that contained wheat and specifically gluten. So maybe there is something to this Gluten Issue... In any case I have cut out most breads, pizza pie crust, deserts and eaten a lot of Almond Butter on Apples, Cottage Cheese and Peaches (which has become like my ice cream) and Salmon. Lots of Salmon. The best at Mezzaluna but I also did well backing it in aluminum foil.
I ride almost every day on a loop like this:

That was a little longer than usual but I do the Davis Mountain and Jump Off Rock Ewart Hill route as often as possible. In fact I need to stop writing so I can go out now.

I weighed in when I got back 154.5, took a shower 154. No lie, the scale can vary by a pound or two with a sneeze but I am moving the needle in the right direction. So I'm off for the weekend going to Lauren's for a belated birthday celebration. Then the real countdown begins. I plan for one day of hills, one group ride, then rest. Just do a few easy miles each day to stay loose.
