It was a cool, crisp, clear, autumn day where the foliage in view was that of neighbors helping neighbors and new friends coming together to lend their time, support and helping hands to those who have been impacted so harshly by the arbitrary wrath of Hurricane Helene.
My neighbor Cindy Long, a force of nature in her own right, was volunteering again and recruiting others for the cause.

You can choose the Time, Date, Place and Hours and the type of work you want to do. When you arrive you log in, you are assigned to a leader and then roll up your sleeves and go to work.
As per what has become the Usual, this turned out to be another productive and greatly rewarding experience. The purpose was to provide food to families impacted by Hurricane Helene. The building is huge, probably measured in acres and had thousands of pounds of donated food, clothing and basic necessities. The process was to fill a box with essentials for a family of four including proteins, vegetables, fruits, grains and snacks for the kids. I spent 3 hours working side by side with some of the nicest people in Hendersonville and beyond. I met a group of computer programmers with the company IMPLAN https://implan.com/ located in Raleigh and Charlotte
and dedicated members of the armed forces directing the flow of traffic for the lines of patrons lining up needing supplies.
There was even a Llama providing a therapeutic calm to workers and patrons alike.
