I'm sitting here in the rain on Dataw Island just looking out at the rain on the marsh when it dawned on me… what if we put sliding glass doors to replace the windows at home???
What if you walked into our home and it already had a glass wall behind the TV set, would you complain and say Oh I don't like that! No, you or we, would love it. So the idea is to replace the windows with full length sliding doors which would slide open, from the right, to an extension of the deck with full view of the woods behind us and the sound of the creek. This way we could bring the outdoors in without having to go out. We could have another awning to shade that section from direct sun but when it rains we could have the sights and sounds of the rain and the creek right there in the living room.
We could put shades on the sliding doors, just like here, if we wanted a darker room.
There is no real need to privacy because the woods and creek are there but you could close them if you wanted too.
Pros:
Increased usable living space
Increased enjoyment of the back yard, creek, rain
