Flat Rock Wood Room

I have noticed that the parking lot is full every day at The Flat Rock Wood Room so I had the opportunity to stop by around 3pm after the rush. My timing was perfect and so was the food and company. The nicest thing about any place you visit are the people you meet and today was yet another special day in Hendersonville, NC. The Flat Rock Wood Room is neatly located just a few miles south of town on 225 and well worth the trip. They Feature Local and Micro Brewery Beers and I was treated to a taste of a most unique and quite delicious Creme Brulee Stout.

The Wood Room offers a full menu of Burgers, Soup and Salads (Try their Signature Flat Rock Salad with Sliced Strawberries), Smoked Pork and Chicken and Fire Brick Oven Neapolitan Pizza. Everything on the menu is Delicious and they have something to suit every appetite.
These lovely people traveled all the way from Ohio just to have a taste. Helen, the baby of eighteen children, is visiting the area with her "baby girl" and within minutes the folks at the Flat Rock Wood Room  made all of us feel like one Big Happy Family!

logoNext time you're in town stop in and say Hello... Oh and Tell 'em Helen Sent You!

Ruth's Chris Steak House in Asheville

Walking into the new Ruth's Chris Restaurant in Asheville you know immediately that you are soon to be treated to a luxury dining experience. The rich wood tones and art motif lure you into a world somewhat reminiscent of life at the Biltmore Estate, just next door.
Granite Bar, Granite Tables, Granite Sinks and Vanities, this place is solid quality and craftsmanship. Maybe you thought just their Steaks were Great!

History in a nutshell; A girl named Ruth once worked for the Chris restaurant. He owned several, she bought one and that one was known as Ruth's Chris. Chris passed on, now she owns the franchise and we now know how Ruth's got it's intriguing name.
Many thanks to the GM, to Dana and Wes for telling us about Ruth'sLake Lure and Shumont Mountain and for making our first visit to Ruth's Chris in Asheville so interesting, enjoyable and memorable. Your fun personalities, attention and service made all the difference in the world. You made us feel welcome, you made us feel like home and by the way your "home" is absolutely beautiful, which brings us back to the Granite, the primary reason we came tonight. The Granite accoutrement's all come from Stone Gallery Granite & Marble , the home of Quality and Craftsmanship. If it's good enough for the house of Ruth, it's good enough for me!

Brunch Lunch and Something to Munch - Mezzaluna

There's no place like home but then again if guests are stopping by after church and you want to relax and concentrate on kinship and conversation on any given Sunday afternoon, there's no place like Mezzaluna on Main in Hendersonville, NC.

It is so good to share the things you love with Great People.

It's so nice to have a place to go, where you are greeted with a smile and a friendly hello, where a great selection of brick oven foods are served, any praises we sing are all well deserved.  With our appetites sated and home to go to, we could not debate it, Ok let's have...

just one Crème Brûlée and a Tiramisu.

Drawbar Cliffs via Van Patton

There are those moments in the crossroads of space and time where the barrier between man and nature is transparent and the distance between heaven and earth seems visible to the naked eye.

There is good reason why even Jesus sought refuge in the wilderness.

In our modern world where we crave and covet creature comforts, there is still the need to venture out and away, to get in touch with something visceral, something primal, something real. Where companionship is molded through the challenges of shared experience and love of nature is the common bond.

This GPS Map includes the car ride from Hendersonville on Rout 64 to the parking lot at the top of Van Patton Drive off of 178. The Hike itself was the First Split of 11.06 Miles  Elevation gain of 2696 Ft. http://connect.garmin.com/splits/142205021

Back to Square 1

Somewhere between the art of conversation and a conversation about Sterling Edwards art, between the economics of ergonomics and between nursing, nutrition and the fruition of parenthood, mind, body and soul, there is Square 1 Bistro. A place to meet in soft and peaceful ambiance, serving North Carolina farm fresh foods, with our helpful hostess taking the time to recommend her favorites and snap the photographic memories my mind, alas, cannot.
It is never just the where and when but most of all the who with whom you share the experience of another wonderful evening on Main Street in Hendersonville.

The Lime Leaf in Hendersonville

The Lime Leaf in Hendersonville offers an exotic dining experience at pedestrian prices.

Voted the Best Restaurant in Spartanburg, the Lime Leaf was one of our favorite dining destinations so we were very excited when owner Mr. Xing Chen expanded his Lime Leaf Thai Cuisine to Hendersonville. Now we can enjoy this exceptional dining pleasure right here in our new home town.
We would often choose the   Lime Leaf to celebrate special occasions but now we can enjoy a special occasion every day of the week. The lunch menu offers the same incredible cuisine at penny pinching prices. Now I can relax and enjoy a delicate and delicious, healthy meal without economizing on quality. All menu items can be prepared in Vegetarian style and if you like it Spicy you can really kick it up a notch!

If you are looking for that unique, intimate and memorable dining experience you will find it at the Lime Leaf at night.
Lime Leaf on the Loft (2nd Floor) offers a silky, soft and sensuous environment to romance your loved one with candle light and cocktails.

For larger parties of 10 or more you can plan the perfect private dining room event for no additional charge. Owner, entrepreneur and consummate restaurateur, Xing Chen understands and caters to his customers wants and needs. Word of mouth referrals and repeat business are the mainstay and once you try the Lime Leaf you will understand why.

Guitar Academy Features Michael Reno Harrell

With many thanks again to John and Karel for sharing this discovery, Tess and I were treated to an Outstanding Performance by Michael Reno Harrell at Hendersonville's newest music Instruction and Concert destination The Guitar Academy of Western NC. The Guitar Academy honors both the musician and the audience by providing a Perfect Listening Environment. According to Tess, despite all our stereo equipment investments over the years, the absolute best place to listen to her music is her Honda. And why? Because it is the perfect space for Listening.
It's not too big, not too small, not too loud, not too soft... It's Just Right!
And so it is at the Guitar Academy for the Artist and Listening Enthusiast. Like an Acoustic Cocoon, It is Just Right! The stage is up front and elevated just enough with soft lighting so that everyone can see, hear and "Listen". And there is a difference. This is not a bar, a restaurant or night club, there are no competing conversations or clinking glasses or food exchanges. At the Guitar Academy, the Artist came to Perform and the Audience came to Listen and in that relationship and with this artist, Michael Reno Harrell, there was the necessary chemistry for Great Communication!
In this story and song about My Town he captures the temper and texture of life in a "Mill Village" in Spartanburg, South Carolina, a part of American history and heritage that is sadly disappearing and can easily be overlooked and forgotten by todays young aspiring American Idol. Michael lived it, he feels it and he preserves and communicates it with his audience, moving them to laughter and tears with the memories.

A Singer, Song Writer, Story Teller.
In "The Nickel" he chronicles a young girls venture into a challenging world where sometimes that simple little Nickel was the only Hope she had.

A wink from Arlo Guthrie and a nod from old Mark Twain, Michael Reno Harrell is a Charismatic and Captivating Entertainer offering heartfelt words of acoustic wisdom and truth, surviving a plugged in age.  Check with The Guitar Academy 235 Duncan Hill Road in Hendersonville  Phone: 828-775-7841 for Professional Instruction and up coming Concerts.

2 Guys Pizza and Ribs - a Whole New Brew

All You Need is Love!
All You Need is 2 Guys Pizza & Ribs and you will find Great Food, Great Fun and All the Love You Need.
John and Melody have poured their Heart and Soul into 2 Guys and when you enter with a hungry tummy, you leave not just full but fulfilled with a Little Piece of their Heart.

John and Mel have been building a family business for many years in Hendersonville and they recently moved to the Heart of Hendersonville on Church and Barnwell with plenty of on site parking for folks who have a problem finding a spot on Main.

The accoutrement's in the new building space are beautiful; warm earth tones with soft lighting illuminating fine Art to please your eye, an incredible surround sound system to please your ear, and attentive personal service that warms your heart and soothes your soul.
The restaurant is the heart of a potpourri of love with a Family Friendly Game Room to keep the "kids" busy and the
Sterling Edwards Art Gallery sharing the space.

Bring your Family, bring your Friends, bring your Lover and make your plans to share the Love at 2 Guys Pizza & Ribs (and One Wild and Crazy Girl!) Smiling with John Decker of Right Angle Woodworks of Hendersonville, NC.

Haus Heidelberg German Restaurant

We have passed here numerous times and often said we need to try it. Well we did and we do, Love Haus Heidelberg.
If you have ever imagined traveling Europe, wandering the slopes and valleys, immersing yourself in the beauty and grandeur and emerging into a quaint and cobbled stoned village where people greet you with a nod, a smile and an invitation to join them for dinner,

this was my experience emerging from an afternoon walk to the top of Big Glassy at Connemara.
The poetic sensations continued as we took our booth and viewed stunning photos of the hinterland architecture and scenery. Our hostess Angie brought us frosted steins of "purity" tested German Beer and our dining adventure was off to an Oktoberfest start. The menu offered a variety of native fare and I recognized several for the meat lover in me while salads surrounded my more vegetarian oriented partner.
I settled on the Bratwurst, in part because my camping cookout Bratwurst Experience. The Haus offers a wholesome flavorful dish
where the Bavarian Brat sits on a bed of savory sauerkraut surrounded with German Hot Potato Salad! Already stuffed to the gills we could not turn down a most tempting and Delicious Apple Strudel and Ice cream, Wunderbar!!!
